Woodcast is Green and Clean

Woodcast is a completely non-toxic mouldable and remouldable material suitable for all casting and splinting applications with no micro plastics when biodegrading. Woodcast is suitable for all cast applications and the moulding of orthoses for occupational therapy purposes. The product comes in various strengths, sizes, and as vented/non vented versions. All woodcast can be combined with each other. To be used with Woodcast Heating Devices and ProCast Accessories.

Woodcast Properties

Woodcast is heat mouldable. At room temperature it is as hard as wood. Once heated it becomes soft and pliable and self-adhesive. The level of support and rigidity can be adjusted by layering and combining different Woodcast products. Woodcast vented products have slits that can be opened MAX30% to improve ventilation of the cast/splint. Cooling of the product can be accelerated by using a cold pack. Woodcast can be heated and remoulded.

Once set the cast splint is lightweight, durable and x-ray transparent, no blurring on Xray. If necessary, the cast can be washed in water in temp under +40°C using a brush and mild detergent such as hand soap.

  • Woodcast Vented is for fracture management and Woodcast Non-Vented is mainly for hand therapy.
  • Woodcast 1mm Ribbon can be stretched both vertically and horizontally to improve the fit. Do not stretch Woodcast 2mm, 2mm Soft or 4mm too much as will open the slits and weaken the cast. The material will retain its rigidity if the slits are not opened more than 30% of the maximum full circle. So oval shaped.
  • Splints should be placed vertically in line with the slits, not horizontally against them. Remember to use double stockinette prior to placing on skin or padding and stockinette.
